The life of a Soons McIntosh ("mac") apple tree - a photograph of the same section of apple tree over the course of a year...
AUG 11 - oops! got busy with opening the store so this is a little late... the apples are a bit larger and have a bit of a blush on them now. Since this part of tree does not face the AM sun, it's a little bit behind other parts of the tree, and the tree next to it too!

JULY 6 - it's been dry, so we've been irrigating the orchard. The apples are coming along, continuing to grow larger. While these Macs are still very green, others are taking on color a little early (cooler nights help the apples color up)

JUNE 6 - the tree is fully leafed out and small apples are growing. (It's so green now that it's tough to see what's going on!) Each blossom has the potential to become an apple, so you must "thin" the apples out regularly because too many apples on a tree = very small apples.

MAY 6 - we got a couple warm days and the trees are fully in bloom now
MAY 4 - this tree is ahead of others and is beginning to bloom now MAY 1 - big hint of pink
APRIL 27 - hint of green
APRIL 2 - the tiniest signs of spring

MARCH 11 - still dormant, just got a new pruning cut on the left (the one in center/left is from previous years)
